Applications don’t write themselves. Operating systems don’t write themselves either. Yet.
But no one can argue that AI won’t at least make it possible for such things to become reality. Keep in mind that I said “possible”. Hold that thought.
Scientists and engineers have been busy for years trying to frame up the measurable aspects of human preference. What makes a popular song; a popular TV or Web show, or a popular political candidate. If you think I’m joking, go run a few Web searches on these topics and you might be in for a surprise.
I’ve blogged before about the never-ending pursuit of codeless programming. It has indeed come a long long way from where it was a few years ago. Given that progress curve and the general entropic nature of human/technology evolution, it only makes sense to shift our eyes to the next logical step: no programming.
